From Linda Webbe

At a very young age I knew I wanted to work for myself in a field that allowed me to be self employed. I was lucky to have a school counselor suggest that I look into the health field of study as it offered numerous independent career opportunities and I immediately feel in love with caregiving.

My passion for elder care began when my grandmother became ill which was a very difficult emotional time for my family. My grandmother was  the matriarch of the family who always brought everyone together and the low level of care she received was frustrating and set me on my career path in the health field.

During my grandmother's illness, I was still attending college and was limited to assist in her recovery. I promised myself that I would find a way to honor her through service by helping other families struggling with healthcare issues.

I have worked in various healthcare settings: a clinic, a nursing home, hospice and at a home healthcare company and learned the strengths and weaknesses of each business model.  So many of my clients would ask me to come on the weekends to assist them due to the lack of services that could accommodate their nonmedical needs and this inspired me to start my business, Nightingale Wings, LLC.  I wanted to create a business model, where non medical needs for the elderly and physically disabled were delivered with compassion and care with an emphasis on independence. In the islands, the "Independent Attitude" is instilled in us at an early age and never leaves.

“There are only four kinds of people in the world. Those who have been caregivers. Those who are currently caregivers. Those who will be caregivers, and those who will need a caregiver.”
